Bayada Home Health Care Supports Meals On Wheels to Ensure Seniors Throughout Massachusetts Have Access to Nutritious Meals in an Emergency
Nearly 8,500 meals to be delivered to homebound seniors thanks to BAYADA Home Health Care
December 8, 2014 /3BL Media/ - BAYADA Home Health Care, a trusted leader in providing clinical care and support services at home for children and adults of all ages, has partnered with CBS EcoMedia through its WellnessAd program to support Meals On Wheels Association of America’s Massachusetts Emergency Relief Program. The program ensures seniors have access to nutritious, shelf-stable meals in the event of inclement weather or natural disasters. These emergency meals are critical to the survival of homebound seniors should harsh weather or a disaster occur where meal delivery services are interrupted.
Meals On Wheels Association of America is the oldest and largest national organization composed of and representing local, community-based Senior Nutrition Programs in all 50 U.S. states. The Association works to ensure that the nation’s seniors – including retired nurses, soldiers, teachers and firefighters – receive the nutrition and care they need to live the nourished lives they deserve. Meals on Wheels is a proven and effective system that not only fights hunger and isolation, but also allows seniors to remain independent, healthy and safe in their own homes.
Six selected Meals On Wheels Association members in Massachusetts will receive funding from BAYADA, which will support the Members’ emergency relief and meal distribution programs. They are: Coastline Elderly Services, Tri-Valley, Inc., Old Colony Elderly Services, Inc., HESSCO, Springwell, Inc., and Minuteman Senior Services.
BAYADA’s funding will provide nearly 8,500 meals.
To celebrate this innovative partnership, BAYADA employee volunteers will prepare and serve lunch today to seniors at the Belmont Beech Street Center, a senior center that partners with Springwell, Inc. Hosts will include Meghan Ostrander, RD, Nutrition Director, Springwell and Maureen Hixon, Regional Director, BAYADA Home Health Care.
“We are thrilled to be able to provide seniors in our communities with hot, nutritious meals,” said Hixon. “BAYADA believes strongly in providing community service where we live and work. We’re fortunate to be able to help people, especially at this time of the year.”
“It’s an honor to partner with BAYADA to ensure our nation’s seniors receive the nutrition and care they so richly deserve,” said Paul Polizzotto, President and Founder, CBS EcoMedia.
