Belief in All People: India's Specially-Abled Stores
At KFC India, inviting diversity of background, experiences and thought into everything we do is a key ingredient in fostering innovation and creating an inclusive workplace. One of our How We Win Together principles - Believe in All People - is built on the importance of actively seeking diversity, believing everyone has the potential to make a difference; and coaching, supporting every individual to grow to their full capacity. Believing in all people, we opened the first specially-abled KFC restaurant in 2008 and have continued working closely with our specially-abled team members since. The success of our specially-abled restaurant program is driven by a 360 degree approach to developing specially-abled team members with a focus on hiring, training, creating an enabling work environment with tailored equipment; with a sharp focus on their development for growth and career progression.
In 2013, our efforts were recognized by the then President of India - Pranab Mukherjee - with the Presidential award for our outstanding performance as an employer of people with disabilities. In 2014 we also received the 2014 Economic Times Retail Award for our focus on employee diversity.
Today we are proud to be working with more than 200 specially-abled team members, successfully running more than 30 special KFC restaurants across the country. Taking forward our commitment of ‘Feeding People’s Potential’, over the next 4 years, we are keen to forge our commitment towards specially-abled team members with 70 special restaurants, 7 brand building stores and also growing our specially-abled team members into prominent roles.
