BNSF has been named a 2013 Best Diversity Company by the readers of Diversity/Careers in Engineering & Information Technology for the seventh consecutive year.
Since 2007, this publication has featured BNSF employees multiple times when highlighting diverse talent within the transportation and technology field, according to Lettie Haynes, assistant vice president, Technology Services.
"BNSF values diversity because diverse perspectives enable innovation, creativity, and productivity across cultural, geographic and functional boundaries. Diversity complements the values of BNSF, which serve as cornerstones for our culture," said Ed McFalls, assistant vice president, Human Resources & Diversity.
During March and April 2013, magazine readers and website visitors were asked to identify the corporations, government agencies and other organizations in the United States employing technical employees that are doing the best work in diversity.
Readers' and web visitors' choices were based on their perceptions, formed by their own experiences, conversations with others or reading material. This year, readers were given the opportunity to affirm the status of organizations previously recognized as Best Diversity Companies as well as nominate new organizations.
The magazine's June/July issue will carry a list of the companies that readers ranked at the top for their support of minorities and women, their attention to work/life balance and their commitment to supplier diversity.
