Booz Allen Celebrates 20 Years of LGBTQ+ Pride
For over two decades, Booz Allen has been a place where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, queer, and questioning employees can thrive. Pride Month 2019 is an opportunity to celebrate the firm’s commitment to the LGBTQ+ community.
“This year, GLOBE (Booz Allen’s LGBTQ+ forum) decided on the tagline ‘The future is here, queer, and ours’ to honor the 50-year legacy of the Stonewall Riots,” said Director of Brand and GLOBE Co-Chair Michael Dumlao. “However, we also wanted to convey to the LGBTQ+ community that we want to hire them and equip them to own and shape the future.”
Award-winning inclusion
In May, Booz Allen received an LGBTQ Business Leader Award at the Washington Business Journal’s 2019 Business of Pride awards, which recognizes Greater Washington companies and business leaders for outstanding practices in advancing LGBTQ+ leadership and equality.
This year also marks the 20th anniversary of GLOBE, Booz Allen’s LGBTQ+ employee forum and the 9th consecutive year the firm has received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index.
Powerful community partnerships
Booz Allen also supports the growth and visibility of the LGBTQ+ community through external collaboration. Data scientists, digital strategists, and other specialists from the firm have partnered with:
- The Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, DC to survey patrons, review donation trends, and assess data governance and maturity
- Whitman Walker Health on data and analytics, management consulting, and communications solutions for LGBTQ+ health and wellness issues
- The Sexual Minority Youth Assistance League on a new content management system, user interface, and social media plan
The firm also facilitates intersectional partnerships, collaborating with Black, Trans, Latinx, and Asian and Pacific Islander groups, as well as STEM groups like Out in Tech, Lesbians Who Tech, and Queercon to build a pipeline for LGBTQ+ talent.
