Booz Allen Hamilton Again Scores 100% on HRC’s Corporate Equality Index
For the eighth year in a row, Booz Allen Hamilton has scored 100 percent on the Corporate Equality Index—a national benchmarking survey on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality that is administered by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). As the country’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality, HRC’s 100 percent score is one of the leading measures of workplace equality in the U.S.
Booz Allen has a long history of supporting LGBTQ talent that goes beyond its CEI scores. Two decades ago the firm approved a full suite of partner benefits for LGBT employees and their children, as well as opposite-sex couples—well before this became a common practice in the industry. In 1999, the firm founded the GLOBE Forum in order to provide a critical conversation space and resource compendium for all Booz Allen LGBTQ employees.
“I’ve been blown away by the smart and passionate new members of GLOBE—many of whom joined the firm because they heard how forward-thinking and inclusive our company culture is,” says GLOBE leader Marianne Malizia, who helped to found GLOBE during her early years at Booz Allen.
The 2018 CEI report evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Booz Allen’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria results in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.
GLOBE Communications Chair, Adrian Gillem, added, “As we look to the future, the LGBTQ Agenda and GLOBE Forum are focused on advocating for our LGBTQ talent, reaching out to LGBTQ millennials through intersectional STEM recruitment, continuing to evolve our inclusive company culture, and always seeking diverse viewpoints and backgrounds.”
