Booz Allen Hamilton Joins Coalition to Offer Employment, Professional Development to Student Veterans
From a recent press release from the Student Veterans of America (SVA), Booz Allen Hamilton, and 20 of America’s largest companies recently launched the Business and Industry Roundtable, designed to provide employment and professional development opportunities to the nation’s student veterans.
A first of its kind collaboration, the group of corporations is committed -- through SVA -- to engage directly with the 100,000 veterans who graduate each year, providing a pipeline to corporate expertise in how to find and pursue career opportunities. Booz Allen and the other founding member companies will engage with SVA’s chapters nationwide.
According to SVA’s 2017 National Veteran Education Success Tracker (NVEST) research, student veterans using the Post-9/11 GI Bill are more likely to earn academically-rigorous degrees sought after by leading public and private sector employers. For example, veterans are more likely to graduate and to attain degrees in the fields of business, health, and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), compared to their non-veteran student counterparts. Student veterans also earn on average a 3.35 GPA, compared to the national average of 3.11. These statistics demonstrate that student veterans are talent hiding in plain sight for companies across the country.
The twenty-one founding members of the Roundtable include Accenture, Aetna, Amazon, BASF, Booz Allen Hamilton, Comcast/NBC Universal, Deloitte, Edelman, Edward Jones, First Data, Gartner, General Dynamics, JPMorgan Chase & Co., LinkedIn, LMI, Lockheed Martin, Meijer, Microsoft, Prudential/PGIM, PwC and Raytheon.
