Caesars Entertainment and Caesars Foundation Assist Teacher Exchange™ in Expanding Reach in Clark County
LAS VEGAS, December 13, 2013 /3BL Media/ – As a result of a $250,000 contribution from Caesars Foundation and Caesars Entertainment, The Public Education Foundation’s Teacher EXCHANGE™ is expanding its reach throughout Clark County with the Teacher EXCHANGE Express, its new school supply delivery vehicle.
The Teacher EXCHANGE Express made its inaugural delivery on Dec. 12 to William G. Bennett Elementary School in Laughlin, Nev. Twenty-six teachers at the school received school supplies courtesy of Caesars Foundation, as HERO volunteers from Harrah’s Laughlin delivered the supplies to teachers. The teachers also learned more about how the Teacher EXCHANGE can enhance the classroom experience for their students.
“Caesars is proud to be a leader in helping the Teacher EXCHANGE influence educators throughout Southern Nevada,” said Thom Reilly, Executive Director of the Caesars Foundation. “Our commitment to helping the communities we operate in is integral to Caesars, and we are happy to have kicked-off this initiative with the Teacher EXCHANGE in Laughlin.”
The Teacher EXCHANGE, which helps thousands of teachers save hundreds of dollars in out-of-pocket expenses for school supplies, is a reuse/repurpose/surplus resource center available to all Southern Nevada public school teachers. This green initiative collects books, office supplies, manufacturing and convention overruns, and other surplus materials originally headed for landfills and instead distributes them to teachers for use in the classroom.
On its way back to Las Vegas, the Teacher EXCHANGE Express also stopped in Searchlight to distribute supplies to teachers. In the near future, the Teacher EXCHANGE will take its van to visit public schools in metropolitan Las Vegas and in outlying areas such as Sandy Valley, Goodsprings, Indian Springs, Bunkerville, Logandale, Moapa, Mesquite and Overton.
Since 2008, Caesars Entertainment and the Caesars Foundation have given nearly $1.5 million to support the Teacher EXCHANGE™ initiative.
“We are thankful to Caesars Entertainment and Caesars Foundation for enabling us to expand our services so we can reach greater numbers of students and teachers,” said Judi Steele, President of The Public Education Foundation.
