How Cities Are Evolving to Meet the Sharp Rise in Shipping Demands
According to the 2017 Material Handling Industry’s annual report, urban freight deliveries are expected to grow 40 percent by 2050. For cities looking to stay on the cutting edge, urban planning teams will have to work hand-in-hand with emerging technologies and private-sector providers to keep the delivery playing field in order. And while managing additional packages is nothing new—USPS delivered 3.1 billion packages across the U.S. in 2009 and 5.1 billion in 2016—city infrastructure has a more finite limit than sprawling suburbs or rural areas.

For the 2018 Urban Photographer of the Year, the Focus is Narrative and Connectivity
Every year, CBRE’s Urban Photographer of the Year (UPOTY) competition challenges professional and amateur photographers alike to capture these moments of connectivity across the daily cycle of life. For the 2018 CBRE UPOTY, judges sought pictures that emphasized the power of the connections happening in and around cities. Winners were announced this week.

Plan International, CBRE’s EMEA charity partner, was involved in the competition for the fourth year. CBRE made a donation to Plan International for the first 10,000 entries received in this year’s competition, supporting the global NGO’s work in advancing children’s rights and equality for girls.

CBRE Announces Winners of 2018 Global Urban Photography Competition
With more than 80,000 entries from 180+ countries, CBRE’s Urban Photographer of the Year competition’s 11th year was its largest and broadest reaching. Richard Morgan, from the United Kingdom, has been named the overall winner of the competition. Mr. Morgan’s image, “What are you looking at?” captures a fascinating street side scene in Poznan, Poland, of a group of onlookers, entranced by a tourist attraction, disrupted by one, direct stare.

In acknowledgement of all photographs submitted, CBRE will donate £10,000 to global children’s charity Plan International, CBRE’s EMEA charity partner. CBRE has been supporting Plan International since 2014, raising over £1 million to fund a program in Sierra Leone to help girls to complete their education.
