The Consumers Energy Foundation is highlighting its commitment to Michigan’s residents by providing $500,000 to nonprofit organizations supporting job readiness through its first People Awards.

Consumers Energy Receives National Recognition as ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year, Saves Customers $2 Billion on Bills
Consumers Energy is being honored for the seventh time in eight years with the ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award for energy efficiency programs that have saved Michigan homes and businesses over $2 billion. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency hands out Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Awards to organizations that are leaders in reducing energy waste. The awards are the highest level of recognition from the EPA.

Catherine Hendrian Named As One of Crain's 2019 Notable Women in HR
Since being elected to her position in 2016, Catherine Hendrian and her team of about 220 serve 8,500 Consumers Energy employees.

She leads the utility’s traditional HR functions and its Learning & Development and Strategy Mobilization teams and has ability to create a holistic experience that provides employees with the tools to deliver.

Patti Poppe ATHENA Award Winner Interview
Patti Poppe was interviewed Friday by JTV-TV in Jackson for winning the Athena Award from the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce. The annual award is given to those who thrive in their field, devote time to the community and forge paths of leadership for women to follow.

More Than 250 Veteran-Friendly Employers Recognized at Award Ceremony
More Michigan employers are focusing on recruiting, training and retaining military veterans under a public-private partnership led by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA). This year’s Rising Star Award winner was Consumers Energy, which was recognized for its novel approaches to veteran recruiting and hiring, including implementing senior leader training for veteran mental health issues and awareness.

Crain's Detroit Business Newsmakers of the Year: Patti Poppe CEO, Consumers Energy
Consumers Energy Co. CEO Patti Poppe took a leadership role in Michigan in eliminating coal as an energy source, approving a strong policy on renewable energy production, adopting electric charging stations and autonomous vehicles as a major growth strategy and committing the company to a more diverse and inclusive workplace.

Earlier this year, Poppe led somewhat of a reversal of Consumers' energy policy when the company announced it would eliminate coal as an energy source, close its seven remaining coal plants, reduce carbon emissions by 80 percent and boost renewable energy production to 43 percent, all by 2040.

Carolyn Bloodworth is an effective team builder who works tirelessly to meet the basic needs of Michigan residents through Consumers Energy Foundation and Consumers Energy employee volunteers. Throughout her tenure as director of Corporate Giving at Consumers Energy, she has raised hundreds of millions of dollars for our communities in Michigan.

A Consumers Energy employee from Clio is the recipient of the 2018 American Gas Association Meritorious Service Award for his lifesaving efforts to assist a woman involved in a serious car accident.

An independent national survey has named Consumers Energy as a “Most Trusted Brand,” ranking it as a top utility in the Midwest and in the top 15 in the nation among providers of electricity and natural gas according to business customers.
