Leading A Conscious Culture

By leading a conscious culture, we intentionally create an environment where employees can thrive. Where we pay attention to those around us; listen to, learn from, and empathize with each other; and harness our individual strengths to make great things happen.

Diversity & Inclusion

Between None and Many, There’s a Bridge
When we are surrounded by difference, we are better. We know diversity amongst board members, leaders, and teams has impact at scale. California recently became the first state to require public companies to have women on their board. At Cisco, we were co-founded by a woman and have had women on our board for more than 22 years. Currently, we have three women serving on our board. Today, these extraordinary women – Carol Bartz, Michele Burns and Kristina Johnson – were named to WomenInc.’s 2018 list of the Most Influential Corporate Directors. On behalf of all of us at Cisco, congratulations and thank you for your leadership!

Cisco Employees Donate Their Skills and Their Time
Pro Bono is a fancy term for donating your unique skill set — as an engineer, program manager, salesperson, and more — to partner with nonprofit organizations and help take their impact to the next level. It’s an opportunity to sharpen leadership skills while also making a meaningful impact in your community or around the world. Over the past year, employees from Cisco Global Virtual Sales and Customer Success answered the call to “donate your skills, not just your time.”

Women Rock-IT: Female Role Models Matter
Coupled with our drive to attract female talent at Cisco, we sought a way to inspire girls toward technology careers. And while we knew it would be a huge challenge, it’s one we gladly pursued. So was born the Women Rock-IT program, which is now in its fourth year and seeing tremendous results.

Connecting Qualified Veterans to Careers in Technology
No two career journeys are the same, and for military veterans, the road to civilian employment is often an entirely new, unfamiliar mission. In today’s digital economy, the skills people need to thrive are ever-changing, adapting with every innovation and technology that hits the market; a market that doesn’t always wait for veterans to end their deployments and return home.

Cisco’s International Volunteers Return to Beijing to Connect and Empower Education
Recently, Cisco’s Connected Asian Affinity Network (CAAN), an employee resource organization (ERO) that focuses on cultivating more Asian leaders, sent several of its members to Beijing, China to work with the Green and Shine Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO) that focuses on scholarships, donating educational materials, and providing training to teachers in rural areas.

How My Passions Come to Life at Cisco
My Cisco family – and it truly is a family – encourages me to give back, to do my best, and treats me like a valued member of our community. Never was this more true than in my recent trip across the world to help children in need.
