Michelin Challenge Bibendum
Created more than 15 years ago, the Michelin Challenge Bibendum has been held in Europe, the United States, Japan, Brazil and China and is actively preparing its 12th edition with an innovative approach that is even more open, in order to build international commitment to sustainable mobility.
The Challenge Bidendum was started in 1998 by the Michelin Group with the support of many leaders of the road transportation industry. It was originally designed to promote clean, safe, connected and affordable mobility by bringing factual information to political and industrial decision-makers.
Year after year, gaining momentum, the Challenge built itself into a fully-fledged think and action tank. Involving users, manufacturers, suppliers, public and private operators, universities, energy suppliers, research institutes, political leaders, NGOs, it is now the only initiative in the world that brings together all transportation stakeholders. Its aim is to develop a common vision of tomorrow’s sustainable mobility and to decide about actual solutions that generate individual, business, and social benefits.
15 YEARS OF A WORLD-CLASS EVENTExchanges and research conducted through the Michelin Challenge Bibendum are regularly displayed and amplified during a global summit, gathering thousands of experts and decision-makers from all around the world at a single venue.
Climate, urban density, energy, road safety and so on: this travelling event traditionally focuses on issues specific to the visited continent, yet addresses them from a global point of view reflecting the nature of mobility challenges and sources of innovation.
RIGHT SOLUTIONS FOR RIGHT DECISIONSWork undertaken within the 2014 Michelin Challenge Bibendum follows a comprehensive and systematic approach aiming at delivering tangible and deployable solutions to policy makers. Each issue is addressed through a three-phase process: first, our working groups elaborate a common diagnosis; then, they start designing solutions and record their priorities and recommendations in a collective “green book”; finally, a restitution phase with workshops and conferences is organized for policy makers during the global summit.
