A new digital currency known as, The People’s Reserve (TPR) is pleased to announce their partnership with Reno Crew, a passionate building company dedicated to increasing the quality of life for their customers, community and humanity at large. The partnership aims to launch the world’s first digital currency home-building project.

The Top Coins, an independent cryptocurrency news site run by talented cryptocurrency experts, has volunteered to help with the building as well.

The People’s Reserve, RenoCrew and The Top Coins represent a coming together for the good of all – with an open commitment to social responsibility initiatives, to respond to the problem of affordable, responsible housing. 

Cryptocurrency-Powered Housing Project

On September 26, 2020, TPR invited their community to learn tasks such as bricklaying, basic carpentry, painting, and landscaping. Tradies and other volunteers with a wide variety of skills trained everyone in exchange for TPR coins. Members of the Top Coins team joined the TPR and Reno Crew team as volunteer participants.

Reno Crew is known for its commitment to responsible construction projects as well as sustainable business practices; the company has been pioneering the usage of recyclable materials in every project. At the time of writing, there have been nine (9) training sessions and six (6) successful home renovations. Reno Crew is currently working on their first commercial project, a client who’s paying for the service with TPR.

The partnership’s goal is to eventually offer homes to people who lack access to stable, affordable housing. The training program will be extended to those who are looking for a trade.

State of Homelessness in Australia

According to the United Nations Bill of Rights, adequate housing is essential to human survival with dignity. The reality tells a different story: according to research cited by the University of South Wales, over 1 million people in Australia live in “poor” housing conditions, with around 100,000 people living in derelict houses.

Contrary to predicted trends in the beginning of the pandemic, home prices continue to shoot up, making homeownership inaccessible to more and more Australians. The lack of affordable housing, spurred on by income loss, has driven a lot of Australians to homelessness: it’s estimated that Australia’s homelessness rate will rise by around 9% by 2022 as more cuts are made to welfare payments and unemployment supplements.

Crypto as a Financial Hedge

As the pandemic continues to wreak unprecedented economic havoc all over the world, many are deciding to invest in cryptocurrency to hedge against instability. According to a 1000-respondent survey conducted by Finder, 12% of cryptocurrency investors in Australia have chosen to do so to hedge against inflation.

TPR’s goal is to transition towards a new economy: one designed to work for the people.
