Can Employers Foster Better Employee Camaraderie?

Check out any recent employee engagement survey and the news is the same—engagement is at all all-time low. Both APA and Aon recently released studies that indicate employees are feeling stressed and disengaged from their work. Much of this can be attributed to challenging work environments with employees being asked to do more with fewer resources. So how can employers begin to reenergize and reengage their workforces?
Improving employee engagement and performance may be as simple as encouraging workplace camaraderie. People are spending more and more time at work—often working on weekends, holidays and off-hours just to get the job done. If they feel good about the company and those they work with, the employee and the company benefit. In fact, TINYhr found that peers and camaraderie are the top reason employees go the extra mile—not money. Camaraderie is the true motivator in encouraging employees to outperform expectations.
