CDC Development Solutions Becomes PYXERA Global, Launches New Brand Identity
A Vision for Purposeful Global Engagement
WASHINGTON, DC, November 19, 2013 /3BL Media/ – Early this month, CDC Development Solutions launched a new brand; the organization’s new name is PYXERA Global. The new name comes as part of a new brand identity fitting for the organization’s quarter-century impact in global development. The name, a fusion of two words evokes the role of the firm to serve as a navigator (pyxis) on the ground (terra).
Through the organization’s work in global pro bono, local content development, and integrated community development, PYXERA Global strives to create groundbreaking partnerships between the public, private, and social sectors. These partnerships leverage the unique attributes of each sector to create shared value and innovative solutions to complex challenges in critical areas such as clean water, education, technology, agriculture, and health. Examples of programs facilitated by PYXERA Global include IBM’s trailblazing work in skilled International Corporate Volunteerism, the Corporate Service Corps; The Dow Chemical Company’s Sustainability Corps; SAP’s Social Sabbatical; and Merck and the Richard T. Clark Fellowship for World Health program. Beyond International Corporate Volunteerism, PYXERA Global works with companies such as Anadarko Petroleum Corporation to develop sustainable supply chains and increase local content, as well as integrated community development programs, such as JIVA, the Joint Initiative for Village Advancement, in cooperation with the John Deere Foundation and local partners in India.
As part of the new brand launch, PYXERA Global created two broad practice areas, Global Pro Bono and Enterprise and Community Development, to house its existing programs. Global Pro Bono is comprised of International Corporate Volunteerism and MBAs Without Borders programs, while Enterprise and Community Development encompasses Local Content Development and Integrated Community Development programs. PYXERA Global also houses the US Center for Citizen Diplomacy, which focuses on the importance of building people-to-people cross-border relationships, bridging cultural gaps, and fostering mutual understanding.
PYXERA Global evolved from public-sector funding during the time of its inception in 1990 to today, where the majority of the organization’s work and social impact are achieved in partnership with the private sector. Originally commissioned by the White House to support private enterprise within the economies of the transitioning Communist Bloc, PYXERA Global has since grown in size, program breadth, and social impact. Since that early time, the organization has served in ninety countries, and today is active in dozens of countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. PYXERA Global also launched a new website www.pyxeraglobal.org that features the broad array of programs and partnerships in which the organization is engaged.
