CITGO Lake Charles Refinery Receives Highest Award from LMOGA
SULPHUR, La., April 27, 2017 /3BL Media/– Recently, the CITGO Lake Charles Refinery received the Pelican award by the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association (LMOGA) at the organization’s annual meeting in New Orleans.
Since 2010, the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association has presented its Pelican Award to a member company that has demonstrated outstanding achievement and commitment to the oil and gas industry, to the community, to the environment and to the state of Louisiana. It is the highest honor given to a LMOGA member company and is given in appreciation for the company’s contributions and long-term investment in Louisiana.
CITGO executives attended the annual meeting to accept the award including Eduardo Assef, CITGO Vice President Refining; Tomeu Vadell, Vice President and General Manager, CITGO Lake Charles Refinery; and Dana Keel, Government and Public Affairs Manager of the CITGO Lake Charles Refinery. Vadell said the award was a significant reflection of the hard work and character that the CITGO Lake Charles Refinery reflects in Southwest Louisiana. “We are extremely proud of this award and what it means to the 1,100 employees who work at our CITGO Lake Charles Refinery as well as to our corporation,” Vadell said. “This award highlights not only our commitment to safety and environmental stewardship but also our diligence to act as a socially responsible company in Southwest Louisiana.”
The CITGO Lake Charles Refinery has a long and rich history of community involvement in Southwest Louisiana and a bright future as the Refinery celebrates 73 years of operations this year. The Refinery’s volunteer organization TeamCITGO also celebrates 30 years of serving the Southwest Louisiana community this year. TeamCITGO was the first industrial employee volunteer group in Southwest Louisiana.
