Community Colleges of Spokane and Crowdswell Join to Meet the STCU Challenge
The world's largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament was recently also the launch site for an innovative fund-raising campaign. Volunteers in Spokane, Wash., wore pink overalls and carried signs saying, “See what $5 can do.” They are part of the campaign to raise $50,000 in support of the Avista Center for Entrepreneurship at Spokane Community College. The signs directed viewers to the Crowdswell platform for more information and to make a donation.
Here's the media pitch: The campaign is a challenge from STCU, a regional credit union, which is offering a one-for-one match up to $10,000, and the best part is that donations can be made online through the recent Spokane start-up Crowdswell platform while watching your favorite team play. In addition, if you take a “selfie” with the pink overall sign carrier and post it to Instagram, you’ll receive a free t-shirt.
Communication about the campaign during Hoopfest weekend was tracked using the hash tag #LaunchSpokane or by following @FoundationCCS on Twitter.
