Deloitte Makes Maximum Impact with Student Spring Breakers
Deloitte makes Maximum Impact with student spring breakers
Deloitte recently completed another year of its alternative spring break program, “Maximum Impact,” in which undergraduates across the country volunteer for the community and work alongside Deloitte professionals.
This year, 88 college students were selected out of 1,600 applicants to participate in the program, which took place in Atlanta and Memphis during the first few weeks of March.
The program, run in conjunction with United Way and Teach for America, was created in 2008 to build the firm’s relationship with students. Deloitte anticipates hiring roughly 6,500 full-time employees and interns from 400 U.S. campuses this year.
Olympic bobsled champion Steve Mesler and Olympic figure skating champion Evan Lysacek kicked off both events by discussing the connection between high performance and community service.
The community service projects in both cities were:
March 4-8 in Atlanta: Deloitte, United Way and 53 students worked at childcare centers, middle schools and agencies. They provided literacy kits, classroom aid, facility improvements and support services for the homeless and people with disabilities.
March 10-16 in Memphis: Deloitte and Teach for America facilitated 35 students in providing clerical assistance, academic engagement, small group instruction and facility management at various charter and public schools.
