Recent research from the US National Institutes of Health says that one cup of coffee can prolong your life. For Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (GMCR), coffee can also prolong lives in communities in the developing world.
Since first opening as a small café in Waitsfield Vermont in 1981, Green Mountain has taken a very active interest in corporate social responsibility as it grew into a multi-billion dollar public company.
Driven by their motto – “Brewing a better world” – GMCR supports local and global communities. They are longstanding advocates for – and suppliers of – Fair Trade Certified™ coffee, and they donate at least five percent of their pre-tax profits to social and environmental projects.

They provide grants to local organizations and projects that address specific issues aligned with environmental stewardship, strong local systems and economic prosperity.
