Human Rights Day at Sanofi
Sanofi is convinced that its role is to support each person’s fundamental right to health through daily efforts to improve access to healthcare for people everywhere.
As a worldwide healthcare company that is keenly aware of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and all the more so upon the International Human Rights Day on December 10th, the company is committed to integrating respect for human rights into its business operations and public positions.
Sanofi adheres to the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labor Organization and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Through its adherence to the United Nations Global Compact, Sanofi also supports and applies the core principles relating to human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption.
Sanofi believes that one of the key success factors in promoting respect for human rights in business is ensuring that all stakeholders are fully aware of their individual and collective rights and are informed about their respective obligations towards one another.
This is why, for example, in order to inform all its employees about the link between business and Human Rights, Sanofi created an internal e-learning module in collaboration with the EDH association (Entreprises pour les Droits de l’Homme).
This module answers 3 main issues about business and Human Rights:
- What is meant by Human Rights in business?
- How to incorporate Human Rights into process and practices?
- How to manage Human Rights day to day?
In general, human rights are integrated in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the policies, procedures and actions deployed for Sanofi’s CSR priorities.
