At Illumina, inclusion exists in our purpose, our work, and our practices. We believe diverse perspectives are valued and needed to drive innovation, and that the best ideas and collaboration come from a diverse, inclusive environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and supported.
That is why we take great strides in fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture. Some of our efforts include:
Offering curriculum that empowers employees to learn how their strengths can cultivate inclusivity
- Having an equitable process that ensures women and underrepresented minorities are fully seen, valued, and included in leadership roles
- Evaluating our marketing content for gender bias
- Maintaining a zero gap in pay
- Providing equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ employees and their families
- Supporting our growing network of employee resource groups
I am proud to share that our efforts for demonstrating leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion have been recognized by two external indexes: the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index and the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index. This is the fourth year Illumina has been included in the Gender-Equality Index, and the third year in the Corporate Equality Index.
The Gender-Equality Index includes public companies committed to supporting gender equality by demonstrating policies, transparency, and inclusion practices in the workplace and the communities in which they operate.
The Corporate Equality Index recognizes companies that elevate an inclusive culture through policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) employees. Illumina once again received a top score of 100%, which comes with the distinction of being recognized as one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality.”
We recognize that our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts are ongoing. As it is important to celebrate milestones it is just as important that we remain focused on advancing and improving our efforts. These indexes serve as objective, external benchmarks that allow us to understand how we compare to peers and where we can strive to improve.
Thank you to all our employees for continually making Illumina an inclusive workplace and a leader around the world in so many important ways.
