LA Galaxy Team Up With Dream on 3 and Children's Hospital Los Angeles to Celebrate Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
AEG’s LA Galaxy recently teamed up with Dream on 3, a nonprofit dedicated to creating sports-themed experiences for youth living with life-altering medical or intellectual conditions, and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) to celebrate Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, in conjunction with the Major League Soccer’s “Kick Childhood Cancer” campaign.
Together on Sept. 15, the LA Galaxy and Dream on 3, made 10-year-old Avery’s sports dream of attending an LA Galaxy game with her family a reality with all the bells and whistles.
An avid soccer fan and player, Avery, who is diagnosed with pediatric leukemia, and her family were flown across the country and experienced VIP treatment from the team, including meeting LA Galaxy players and coaches during a team training as well as attending the Sept. 15 home match vs. Houston Dynamo at Dignity Health Sports Park.
Additionally, the Galaxy teamed up with CHLA to host out-patient pediatric patients in a VIP suite at Dignity Health Sports Park during the Sept. 15 home match and gifted each an LA Galaxy jersey. The team also coordinated with CHLA to play the LA Galaxy vs. Houston Dynamo match on the hospital televisions and had hospital staff distribute LA Galaxy giveaways and the Kick Childhood Cancer pajamas provided by the MLS and Continental Tire to patients.
