Bethesda, Md., November 4, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] has been recognized by CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) as one of the world's top corporations for disclosing climate change impacts in its operations.

This marks the fifth consecutive year that Lockheed Martin has scored in the 90th percentile for transparency in discussing its operations related to climate change. Lockheed Martin's 2015 Climate Change CDP Report scored 100/100 for disclosure and an "A-" ranking in emissions reductions performance. Furthermore, Lockheed Martin received a score of “B” in CDP’s first public scoring methodology for “Management” in Water, outperforming its industry average and Water CDP average score of “B-“.

"This achievement is important to the broader sustainability program we are establishing at Lockheed Martin and shows investors and customers that we are committed to socially and environmentally responsible long-term growth," said Leo S. Mackay, Jr., vice president of Ethics and Sustainability for Lockheed Martin.

Lockheed Martin has incorporated climate change impacts in its operational considerations since 2002, when it worked with the EPA as one of the founding partners for the Climate Leaders Program, which collects and reports leading companies’ environmental information. Other examples of Lockheed Martin's environmental leadership include:

  • 2007 - Established Lockheed Martin's Go Green 2020 Goals to reduce our carbon emissions, energy, water, and waste from our operations
  • 2009 - Joined EPA's Green Power Partnership
  • 2010 - Joined DOE's Better Buildings Program
  • 2014 - Achieved Global Alignment with the UK's Carbon Reduction Commitment
  • 2015 - Pledged to EPA's On-site Renewables Commitment

"We're pleased that CDP has once again recognized our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint," said Carol B. Cala, Lockheed Martin vice president of Energy, Environment, Safety and Health. "Our sustained investments in energy efficiency, green power and water reductions are a reflection of our company's commitment to protecting the environment and the health of our planet, while also improving the sustainability of our products and operations."

This year, Lockheed Martin notably demonstrated its commitment to environmental sustainability by combining several of its commercial energy products and service businesses into a single organization. The new Lockheed Martin Energy line of business includes renewable and clean energy, energy storage, energy management, and smart grid solutions.

In 2014, over 4,500 companies across more than 80 countries disclosed through their CDP Reports. CDP holds the largest collection of self-reported climate change, water and forest-risk data.
