Marcone Backs Animal Rescue Foundation’s Critical Work & Helps Celebrate Tony La Russa’s Hall of Fame Induction
Wine & Whiskers returns to St. Louis to raise money for animal rescue programs & to honor ARF's co-founder, Tony La Russa
Last month, Marcone proudly supported Animal Rescue Foundation’s Wine & Whiskers fundraiser and party with a silver level sponsorship. The event not only helped raise money for ARF, but honored the organization’s co-founder and recent Hall of Fame inductee, Tony La Russa.
Many know La Russa as a living legend in the baseball world, as evidenced by his induction into the Cooperstown National Baseball Hall of Fame and the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame last summer. What may be less known about La Russa is the legacy of life-saving work he’s established through the Animal Rescue Foundation.
With a focus on strengthening the human-animal bond, “ARF strives to create a world where every loving dog and cat has a home, where every lonely person has a companion animal, and where children learn to care.” At the beginning of 2015, ARF celebrated their 30,000th adoption, an inspiring milestone that was reached when the group found a forever home for Ravioli, a 12-week-old kitten. As a corporate contributor since 2012, Marcone is thrilled to see how ARF continues to impact so many animal and human lives.
The Wine & Whiskers event, held January 16 at St. Louis’ Busch Stadium, welcomed more than 350 guests who sampled local wine, beer, and foods while meeting some of ARF’s furry ambassadors. A portion of the proceeds raised were shared with local St. Louis area animal rescue organizations.
