(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) October 22, 2010 - McKesson Corporation, the world’s largest healthcare services company, today announced that Ferris Mitchell has been hired as the Veteran Small Business Relationship Manager to lead McKesson’s Supplier Diversity program. Mitchell will be responsible for increasing the veteran-owned business representation throughout the enterprise and drive growth in diversity spending with veteran and service disabled veteran-owned small businesses.
“We take pride in our active duty and veteran employees and are honored to have Ferris join our team,” said Saul Factor, President, McKesson Global Procurement. “Our Supplier Diversity program continues to work with small and diverse businesses that meet our business needs and enhance the economic value of our customers. As one of the largest vendors for the Department of Veterans Affairs, we are committed to giving veteran-owned businesses an opportunity to become trusted suppliers.” McKesson’s Supplier Diversity program was created to expand opportunities for small and diverse businesses that can provide exceptional services at competitive value and cost. They include small disadvantaged, historically underutilized, minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned, service-disabled veteran-owned and HUBZone businesses, as well as Ability One nonprofit agencies. Mitchell previously served as a program manager at Skye Technical Services where he developed the supplier diversity strategy and specialized in the procurement of Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business state and federal programs. Prior to Skye, Mitchell worked as an engineering project manager and supplier diversity liaison for Genentech, where he gained a deep understanding of the importance of supplier diversity in the healthcare industry. “I’m thrilled to be a part of a company that takes pride in supporting the careers of veterans,” said Mitchell. “As a third generation veteran, I understand the importance of working with vets and supporting the success of their businesses.” Mitchell received his associate’s degree in nuclear engineering technology from Thomas Edison State College and his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Auburn University.
