National Diversity Council Delivers a Quantitative Analysis of Diversity and Inclusion in Texas’ Fortune 1000 Companies
HOUSTON, September 12, 2016 /3BL Media/ - The National Diversity Council releases “Workforce Diversity and Corporate Governance: A Quantitative Analysis of Diversity and Inclusion in Texas Fortune 1000 Companies. This report, available at no charge, compares Texas’ Fortune 1000 companies against national, Texas, and local demographics. The report focuses on women and minority representation in executive leadership and on boards of directors.
“This report is a great first step towards documenting the impact of large corporations’ diversity and inclusion practices,” said Dennis Kennedy, Founder and Chair of the National Diversity Council. “Although progress is being made within the general workforce population, Texas still trails national diversity and inclusion norms, especially in positions of executive leadership. Identifying the gaps will assist organizations as they progress towards a more representative workforce.”
The National Diversity Council utilized various resources such as census reports, corporate websites, internal contacts, and external diversity associations to gather and report accurate information. The report identifies: (1) the top 25 organizations with the highest percentage of women and minority inclusion; (2) which companies publicize Diversity and Inclusion Statements; (3) the racial and gender representation in leadership (executive or board of directors) positions; and (4) Dallas and Houston area Fortune 1000 companies’ diversity in comparison to the overall minority and women diversity within these two markets. Following a thorough analysis of the collected data, the research team offers a series of graphs and charts to illustrate their findings.
The National Diversity Council hopes that this type of report will provide a benchmark for all Texas companies to measure their own progress. The report brings attention to the fact that an increasing number of applicants, suppliers and customers take corporate governance demographics into consideration when making employment, association or buying decisions.
The National Diversity Council intends to publish this report on an annual basis.
