Partnership is Vital to Successful Global Volunteer Programs
Gavin Cepelak, PYXERA Global, and Johnathas Barretto, Points of Light, Discuss Global Volunteer Programs and Partnerships at BBCON 2016
Washington, DC, October 26, 2016 /3BL Media/ - Global pro bono, volunteer, or philanthropic programs must build meaningful and effective partnership with local organizations on the ground. Gavin Cepelak, Vice President, Global Pro Bono, PYXERA Global, will speak at BBCON 2016 on October 27 about key elements in building high-value partnerships.
“Global pro bono programs are only effective when a true partnership exists and allows for authentic collaboration,” said Mr. Cepelak. “Partnership aren’t easy, so ensuring that there is a common goal and setting expectations is vital to the success of a program.”
Mr. Cepelak will present with Jonathas Barretto, Global Senior Director, Points of Light, addressing how to effectively communicate with an unfamiliar community. Global volunteer programs must transcend borders. Participants will learn best practices on partnering with local organizations—how to understand grassroots needs and create relationships that translate the intended impact into action.
This session will focus on tactics, strategies, and the mindset needed to build effective global programs. It will also include discussion on why programs that work in the US don’t immediately translate globally. Participants will understand the importance of taking local customs, culture, and philanthropic practices into account.
