Disaster Preparedness Month may be over, but our community resilience work is still going strong! This week, we revisit Common Impact CEO Danielle Holly’s conversation with Erica Tavares of the International Medical Corps (IMC), which took place in the wake of 2018’s Hurricane Florence in the U.S. and an earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia. Danielle and Erica discuss how vital cross-sector collaboration is for responding to natural disasters, something we’re unfortunately witnessing again following the devastation of Hurricane Dorian on the Bahamas.
Common Impact is committed to building lasting cross-sector partnerships, which is why we recently released a Disaster Resiliency report outlining how companies can leverage skills-based volunteerism to help community organizations prepare for and recover from the next disaster more effectively. Included is a case study on IMC’s partnership with JPMorgan Chase and a project portfolio for companies and organizations looking to get involved in disaster resiliency pro bono today.
