ON Semiconductor Earns 2021 Military Friendly® Employer Designation
ON Semiconductor announced today that it has earned the designation as a 2021 Military Friendly® Employer. Hundreds of companies participated in the Military Friendly® Employers portion of the 2021 Military Friendly® Companies survey so we are proud and honored by our selection.
“Companies that have earned this designation have invested in substantive programs to recruit, retain and advance veterans within their organizations,” said Josh Rosen, Director of Military Friendly®. “To them, hiring veterans isn’t just the right thing to do. It’s good for business.”
The Military Friendly® Employers list is created each year based on extensive research using public data sources for thousands of federal contractors nationwide, the input of military employees and responses to the proprietary, data driven Military Friendly® Employers survey from participating companies. Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by VIQTORY (a service disabled, veteran owned small business that connects the military community to civilian employment, educational and entrepreneurial opportunities through its owned assets) with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining an organization’s survey score with an assessment of the organization’s ability to meet thresholds for Applicant, New Hire Retention, Employee Turnover, and Promotion & Advancement of veterans and military employees.
“We value the contribution of our employees and their family members that have served in the military. They are truly the best representation of exemplifying our company’s core values of respect, integrity and initiative,” said Alicia Scott, Senior Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Talent at ON Semiconductor.
This award aligns well with the launch of ON Semiconductor’s Affinity Network Group (ANG) for Veteran and Military Employees (VME), which was announced in March 2020. VME helps to recruit, develop and retain military veterans and military family members of all nationalities while providing transitional assistance and increasing community outreach. This ANG also aids in improving current recruiting techniques and creating a strong pipeline of individuals with military experience and knowledge to leverage their unique skills and capabilities.
“It is an honor to be recognized as a Military Friendly Employer. As a Veteran myself, I know the importance of working for a company that values the work ethic, drive and determination of our service members, past and present,” said Rick Whitcomb, Vice President of Business Operations and Executive Sponsor of the Veteran and Military Employees (VME) group at ON Semiconductor.
As part of our recruitment strategy, we will be collaborating with the Department of Defense’s SkillBridge program, which is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences. If you are a hiring manager and interested in hearing more about this program, please send an email to diversity@onsemi.com.
ON Semiconductor will be showcased along with other 2021 Military Friendly® Employers in the December issue of G.I. Jobs® magazine and on MilitaryFriendly.com, https://www.militaryfriendly.com/employers/.
