Strengthening Health System through Tri-Sector Collaboration in Ghana
Global Health Corporate Champions Support Local Ghanaian NGO to Improve Rural Health
WASHINGTON, D.C., July 6, 2016 /3BL Media/ – A nation free of disease and ill health—that’s the vision Ghana Coalition of NGOs in Health (GCNH) has for the future of Ghana. The US Agency for International Development (USAID) Global Health Fellows Program (GHFP) II is helping GCNH through its Global Health Corporate Champions (GHCC), a multi-company cohort of business professionals on the ground in Accra, Ghana working with GCNH.
“Utilizing this unique multi-company cohort to support evidenced-based health interventions builds capacity among this coalition,” said Sharon Rudy, Director, GHFP-II. “This collaboration is made possible by USAID, who provides the underlying support through the Global Health Fellows Program II, while the corporate partners provide the generous pro bono support.”
The GHCC team in Accra includes Austin Cazort from PIMCO, Aubrey Annan from PwC, and Darrell Boverhof from The Dow Chemical Company. The team is currently immersed in a pro bono assignment with GCNH. Drawing from their separate skills and perspectives, they are collaborating to help formulate an effective communication strategy. The objective is to design and develop a communications strategy or policy that focuses on streamlining both internal and external communications.
“The support from Global Health Corporate Champions in creating a plan to effectively execute evidence based advocacy for public health and safety interventions in Accra, Ghana has been instrumental,” said Dr. Gabriel Gbiel Benarkuu, National Chairman GCNH. “Having cross sector expertise and perspective is increasing our strategic planning capacity, we now use this document effectively influence health programming, reforms and responding to the needs of our constituent communities inall the 10 regions. Appreciation to the giver and facilitators”
The Ghana Coalition of NGOs in Health is a legally registered and reputable nonprofit civil society organization (CSO) established in 2000 as an umbrella and coordinating body of activities of all registered nonprofit organizations in the health sector in the country.
