UTC Donates 300 Libraries to Elementary Schools in China

In 2014, a total of 255 employees from UTC China participated in volunteer trips to rural areas in nine provinces and built another 100 student libraries and 30 teacher libraries. With a diverse collection of books, glistening new reading tables and shelves, and smiling children and volunteers, United Technologies recently donated the 300th student library in partnership with the international nonprofit The Library Project. This marks a new milestone for the UTC China Library Project since its inception in 2011.

"The 300 libraries symbolize UTC's efforts to build sustainable and vibrant communities in China and the world by promoting education and empowering the younger generations. To date, employees of United Technologies' entities in China have contributed more than 700 volunteer hours and successfully equipped 300 student libraries and 80 teacher libraries with 193,750 books, benefiting more than 65,200 students and nearly 4,000 teachers across 12 provinces in China.
