Wendy’s Wonderful Kids: How the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption’s Signature Program Makes a Difference

You’ve likely heard of Wendy’s® restaurants and you might even have heard of The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. But, have you heard of Wendy’s Wonderful Kids and do you know how this program is impacting children in foster care? The Foundation works to find forever families for children waiting in foster care.

The Foundation distributes grants to private and public adoption agencies. Those agencies use the funds to hire specially-trained adoption recruiters called Wendy’s Wonderful Kids recruiters. The recruiters use a child- focused recruitment model that relies on getting to know the child and the connections the child already has with adults in their life. Guess what? It’s working!

Since 2004, we’ve served more than 13,000 children, found more than 5,500 permanent, loving homes, expanded from 7 recruiters to 215 and we are matching families in all 50 states and 6 Canadian provinces. We will not rest until every child goes home.
