LAS VEGAS, Nov. 6, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Wynn Resorts released its annual Social Responsibility Report highlighting the company’s ongoing initiatives to enrich the lives of its employees and the betterment of its surrounding communities.

With nearly 20,000 employees around the globe, including more than 12,000 in Las Vegas, Wynn Resorts believes socially responsible practices begin within its walls. Last year, the Wynn Las Vegas workforce donated more than 4,000 hours of off-work time to local nonprofits and launched its inaugural employee giving campaign with United Way. Wynn employees contributed $410,000 – the highest raised by a first-year company campaign in the history of United Way of Southern Nevada.

In addition, the company’s social responsibility efforts and business practices were recognized by industry publications including being named Most Trustworthy Hotel Company by Forbes Magazine, Most Trusted Casino Brand in America by Entrepreneur Magazine and Wynn Resorts outranked all other casino companies on Fortune magazine’s World’s Most Admired Companies List.

Divided into three distinct categories – The People of Wynn, Employee Giving and Volunteerism, and Environmental Sustainability, highlights from the Wynn Resorts’ Social Responsibility Report include:

The People of Wynn – Wynn provides a healthy and happy work environment that supports individual growth and success.

  • Wynn Resorts’ commitment to diversity is among the strongest of any gaming company in the U.S. Within the company, minorities represent 64 percent of its workforce. Wynn Las Vegas continues this support of diversity by spending a weekly average of $635,000 with minority, woman and veteran-owned businesses. In addition, Wynn Resorts was named “Corporation of the Year” by The Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada for its acknowledgment and inclusion of LGBT rights into employee benefits including comprehensive health benefits for same-sex couples and their families.

  • Wynn has created opportunities to foster and promote civic and educational engagement among its employees including the Wynn Employees (WE) Vote Program, which engages employees in the political process; and an annual Education Resource Day, providing employees the opportunity to learn about educational opportunities for themselves and their children in the community.

Employee Giving and Volunteerism – Wynn Resorts is globally recognized for delivering remarkable service to guests.  The company equally prides itself on how their family of employees takes care of members in the community.

  • Last year saw the launch of Wynn’s Make A Difference Day, the culmination of a week-long calendar of events that included volunteer efforts with the American Red Cross, Spread the Word Nevada, the Animal Foundation and other local nonprofit organizations. For the final event, more than 70 employees came together to assist in the renovation of HELP of Southern Nevada’s Shannon West Homeless Youth Center. HELP of Southern Nevada provides services for at-risk youth who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

  • Wynn employees rallied together for the holiday season and collected more than 34,000 items including children’s toys, bikes, clothing and books distributed to local toy drives, professional assistance agencies and local school children.

  • Wynn Las Vegas and its employees understand the importance of today’s youth in the community’s future. Volunteers invested their time and talent in endeavors focused on education, the arts and positive youth development. Beneficiaries included First Friday Las Vegas Foundation, Dr. C. Owen Roundy Elementary School, Foster Friends and The Smith Center for the Performing Arts Access to the Arts education program.

Environmental Sustainability – Wynn Resorts is dedicated to preserving and protecting natural resources for future generations.

  • Wynn Las Vegas and Encore are Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) equivalent resorts.  The properties achieved this recognition through installation of efficient plumbing fixtures, energy-saving devices, establishing sustainability procedures and modifying purchasing practices to favor goods with recycled content.

  • Wynn successfully met a zero-waste goal during recent guest room renovations by repurposing and recycling all material that was removed from the rooms. Approximately 1.3 tons of plastic, 2,674 units of metal and more than 20 acres of carpet avoided traditional disposal.

  • Wynn Resorts diverted 2,800 tons of waste from landfills last year when it implemented off-site sorting of waste into recyclables, food-waste recycling initiatives and purchasing programs to reduce unnecessary packaging.
