Nestlé Nespresso SA is the pioneer and reference for highest-quality portioned premium coffee. From its beginning 30 years ago, the Nespresso brand concept has revolutionised the way millions of people enjoy their coffee and has shaped the global coffee culture. Headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, Nespresso operates in 64 countries and has more than 12,000 employees. In 2015, it operated a global retail network of over 450 exclusive boutiques.

Nespresso is committed to ensuring sustainability and creating shared value throughout its value chain. The company started to embed sustainability in its business model in 2003, with the launch of its unique AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program, in collaboration with the NGO The Rainforest Alliance, which ensures a direct relationship with over 70’000 coffee farmers. Building upon the significant steps that the company has already taken to improve farmer welfare and drive environmental sustainability in coffee sourcing and consumption in the last 14 years, Nespresso has set out an ambitious strategy for 2020, called The Positive Cup, to further the company’s strategy to mitigate its impacts and create positive outcomes for the business, society and the environ­ment through innovative programs and partnerships. Nespresso committed to 100% sustainably sourced coffee, 100% sustainably managed aluminium and 100% efficient carbon operations by 2020. With the Positive Cup, Nespresso has the ambition to offer the highest quality and most sustainable portioned coffee worldwide.
