In an event from T-Mobile’s new innovation center, T-Mobile executives unveiled a series of moves and partnerships called 5G Forward, all designed to accelerate 5G developer innovation.
“In the wake of Ebola and Zika, there is consensus that the world needs to be better prepared for pandemics. Our new facility in Rockville is home to our proposed biopreparedness organization (BPO). We want the BPO to make an important contribution to improving global health preparedness.” (Rip, VP and Head, Slaoui Center for Vaccines Research)
“Circumstances can change quickly and sometimes you can find yourself needing help to afford healthcare treatments, including prescriptions or immunizations. The last thing patients need during this stressful time is to navigate a complicated and bureaucratic system. Over the last year, we simplified the GSK Patient Assistance Program and consolidated information under one website so patients can more easily navigate our programs, determine eligibility and access their treatments at no cost.” (Emily, Sr. Director, Public Policy and Patient Assistance)
“Every day in the lab, we do our part to advance the next treatment for cancer. But too many innovative medicines are out-of-reach for those suffering in the poorest parts of the world. I’m deeply moved to know that my friends in developing countries will likely have better access to our innovative medicines because of GSK’s flexible approach to patents.” (Mili, Ph.D., Investigator)
“Our R&D Places Program and energy hunts have improved the efficiency and reliability of our sites and led to substantial reductions in carbon emissions, water consumption and utility costs. For me, it’s humbling and meaningful to help GSK be a good steward of our precious natural resources.” (Nick, Global Lead Energy & Sustainability)
“At GSK, we think differently about waste and see it as a potential resource. Our medical lab waste at our Upper Providence R&D site is upcycled into park benches and bricks. And our scientists not only help people do more, feel better, and live longer—they also provide a place to relax!” (Asali, Service Owner, Lab Services and Waste Management)
Humans have evolved over millennia to respond to threats that are immediate and urgent. But we’re not inherently wired to deal with existential planetary crises such as climate change. Yet this is the task we face. The science is challenging enough – in recent blogs, we’ve looked at some of the important findings of the past decade that require us to rethink conventional carbon footprinting, policymaking, and mitigation approaches. We’ve also pointed out ways that companies are generating business value from their corporate climate mitigation and offset activities. Compound that with layers of psychological obstacles, and the task becomes even more daunting. Talking about the weather may be a conversation starter, but talking about climate change - not so much. What are these barriers?

Over the past ten years, Twentieth Century Fox has taken every opportunity to make its global production operations among the most environmentally sustainable in the industry. From taking aggressive steps to responsibly manage energy and waste at its Los Angeles production campus to spearheading best practices for filming on location, the studio has consistently undertaken innovative projects that address the unique sustainability challenges facing film and television production. These efforts began with the launch of parent company 21st Century Fox’s corporate sustainability program in 2007, prompting the leadership at Fox Studios to make early investments in solar power and LEED certification.
The Millennial Generation -- that's men and women born in the years 1982 to 2004 (according to researchers Neil Howe and William Strauss). This generation's members are ages 17 to 35, and now said to be outnumbering the previously dominant cohort of the Baby Boomers in the workplace (BBers were born 1946-1964, some 77 million in all).
