Bacardi has been an industry leader when it comes to corporate responsibility, and all employees are urged to live the motto “always do the right thing” day in and day out. Because May and June are Bacardi’s official Corporate Responsibility Months, we chatted with Rick Wilson, the global head of Corporate Responsibility, to learn more about the company’s sustainability initiatives, volunteer opportunities, and community outreach plans that are always in the works for the international spirits company.

IOC Receives Delivery of Zero-Emission Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles from Toyota

The eight Mirai passenger cars – otherwise known as fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) – were unveiled on the eve of World Environment Day at Olympic House - the IOC’s new sustainability-driven headquarters which will be inaugurated on 23 June 2019. Toyota, a Worldwide Olympic Partner, was represented at the handover event in Lausanne by Matt Harrison, Executive Vice President, Sales at Toyota Motor Europe, who was welcomed by Timo Lumme, Managing Director of IOC Television and Marketing Services, and Marie Sallois-Dembreville, the IOC’s Director for Sustainability.

Viacom Employees Raise Approximately $20,000 for AIDS Walk New York

On May 19th, Viacom talent and employees participated in the annual AIDS Walk New York. AIDS Walk NYC is the largest single-day AIDS fundraising event in the world. Viacom has been a long-standing champion in the fight against HIV/AIDS through its programming, cause marketing initiatives, and support of events like these. This year, more than 50 Viacom employees signed up for the Walk and $20,000 has been raised.

Detroit will again show off the colors of the rainbow this weekend (June 8-9), celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) culture at Motor City Pride, an annual two-day festival and parade that is the largest LGBTQ gathering in Michigan.

World Environment Center Names Glenn Prickett as Interim President and CEO

he World Environment Center (WEC) announced today that long-time sustainability expert Glenn Prickett has been named interim CEO of WEC on a part-time basis, following the departure of Lori Michelin. Prickett will oversee WEC’s world-recognized programs and strategic mission to advance sustainable development and corporate sustainability in partnership with governments, multilateral organizations, the private sector, and other stakeholders.

Las Vegas Sands Property Announces Further Commitment to Renewable Energy and to Sustainable Seafood

The Venetian Resort today announced elevated support for the development of green power and sustainable seafood at the iconic Las Vegas hotel and convention center. The announcement coincides with United Nations-sponsored World Environment Day on June 5. Beginning in May, the company entered into a partnership with NV Energy to offset 100% of the annual electricity consumption at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas and Sands Expo & Convention Center through the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).
