The Reclamation and Biodiversity Research Center at PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) was established in 1995 as a way to restore the ecological function of the area near the operations known as the tailings deposition area. Tailings are the finely ground mineral rock that remain from the mining process after the economically valuable minerals have been removed from the ore.

Cerro Verde, a Freeport-McMoRan Company, Plants Trees for Afforestation Project

Minera Sociedad Cerro Verde distributed 3,000 trees in the Uchumayo District of Peru between 2017 and 2018 as part of its afforestation project.

Trees are important, as they absorb carbon dioxide, generate oxygen, and improve the quality of the air along with preventing erosion and degradation of the soil. Trees reduce noise pollution by absorbing the sounds of traffic, sirens and construction – their foliage acts as acoustic insulators.

Harvard Business Review Best-Performing CEOs Ranking With CSRHub ESG Metrics

Harvard Business Review (HBR) has published its annual global ranking of the 100 best-performing CEOs, with Pablo Isla of the Spanish fashion retail giant Inditex topping the list for the second year in a row. Following behind Isla in the #2 and #3 spots are Jensen Huang of NVIDIA and Bernard Arnault of LVMH. They’re joined by newcomers to the top 5 this year, François-Henri Pinault of Kering (#4) and Elmar Degenhart of the German automaker Continental (#5). Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has climbed to the #6 spot, up from #12 in 2017.

Alliance for Community Trees Mentor Exchange Program Connects Community Greening with California Groups

This year, Alliance for Community Trees hosted a mentor exchange program for members through a grant from the U.S. Forest Service. The mentor exchange program paired smaller non-profit groups with larger groups and allowed them to learn by travelling to their location and doing a site visit.
