To say Lake Erie is a part of me is a gross understatement. So I was mortified three years ago when I saw images of toxic algal blooms fouling the waters off the shore of Toledo. The people there lost their drinking water for days.
Over the last year The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation partnered with Andy Mann, a world-renowned National Geographic photographer and adventurer, to document the problem of nutrient pollution in America’s lakes and watersheds. In this video Andy reflects, “I’ve traveled the world sharing the heartbreaking stories of our planet’s water issues, and I’ve never seen anything like it.”
From the beginning, The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation has been deeply rooted in the issue of water –- protecting it, conserving it, and ensuring everyone has access to it. We are stemming the tide of nutrient pollution that feeds harmful algal blooms in our waterways through research, funding, and public engagement.
