GM announced how it is executing on a major element of its vision of a world with zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion, recently announced by GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra. In the next 18 months, GM will introduce two new all-electric vehicles based off learnings from the Chevrolet Bolt EV. They will be the first of at least 20 new all-electric vehicles that will launch by 2023.

Intelligent IoT Powers Purdue’s Digital Agriculture Initiative for Food Security Worldwide

With the global population estimated to top 9 billion people by 2050, researchers estimate agricultural output must double to meet the impending demands. A comprehensive, coordinated effort to address this challenge was recently announced by an Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) national commission, which included three Purdue University leaders. The commission also highlighted the importance of establishing various transdisciplinary efforts, such as the one being forged between Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Purdue University, home to one of the world’s leading Colleges of Agriculture.

Chatbot Partners with Viacom’s LISTEN Campaign to Combat U.S. Addiction Crisis

Stndby, an innovative new messaging platform, customized for the LISTEN campaign, launched today to connect those struggling with drug and alcohol addiction to essential resources for prevention, treatment and recovery. By texting “LISTEN” (547836) on their mobile devices, users can begin a safe and anonymous online dialogue with Stndby’s chatbot to receive personalized help, including information about nearby treatment and rehabilitation facilities, addiction support group meetings, and other means of assistance.

The product’s unveiling dovetails with the efforts of LISTEN, a national campaign by global media company Viacom, to break down the shame and stigma attached to addiction and kick-start a conversation focused on solutions.

HPE’s Spaceborne Computer Successfully Powers Up in Space and Achieves One TeraFLOP

It has been a long month for us, HPE’s Spaceborne Computer engineers, as we waited for an update from NASA on when we would be scheduled to power on the system in space. With much of my team and one of NASA’s main command centers based in Houston, we have all been tied up with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. We finally received confirmation that all systems are a go for Thursday, September 14.
