Dow and Keep America Beautiful announced they have awarded two $40,000 grants to organizations in Cobb County, Ga., and Lincoln, Neb. The grants will expand a recently launched Hefty® EnergyBag® program in Cobb County and help to establish a new start-up program in Lincoln.

That’s where he met Lorrainda, her husband, Wilmer, and their newborn son, Luke – a family in search of shelter after being discharged from the hospital and without a home only three days after Luke was born.
Built for Zero, a national initiative to end chronic homelessness, launched the Permanent Supportive Housing Campaign in Las Vegas, making Southern Nevada one of 70 communities participating in this comprehensive effort. Led by organizations including U.S. Vets, HELP of Southern Nevada and Lutheran Social Services of Nevada as housing providers, the local group’s goal is to become the first large community in the nation to end chronic homelessness.
Through Sands Cares, the corporate giving and community engagement program of Las Vegas Sands, Clean the World and Las Vegas Sands have collaborated on two key projects that have benefited the homeless community and made a significant impact globally. The Global Hygiene Kit Builds held at all Las Vegas Sands properties in the U.S. and Asia provides hygiene supplies to those who don’t have access to them and the Sands Cares Fresh Start Mobile Showers Powered by Clean the World, serves the Las Vegas community by providing showers to those who are living on the streets.
Mohawk Group and nonprofit Groundswell have teamed up to locate a new smartflower™ solar energy unit near three Rockingham County Schools in North Carolina—a project that will bring the benefits of clean solar power to the area, create educational opportunities for students and also contribute to Mohawk’s sustainability efforts to leave more handprints than footprints. The smartflower technology was unveiled on Nov. 29 at a special event in Eden, N.C., which is also the home of Mohawk’s historic Karastan woven carpet plant.

The Humana Foundation, philanthropic arm of Humana for the past 37 years, is awarding grants to 30+ nonprofit organizations in Louisville as part of the foundation’s new Community Relations program. The $2 million in grants is in addition to $7 million the Humana Foundation is contributing to other organizations in seven cities, as part of its new Strategic Investing initiative.
When the Sands Cares Fresh Start Mobile Showers Powered by Clean the World began operations, we wanted to provide immediate relief and resources to those in need as part of our commitment to combatting homelessness. The Fresh Start Mobile Showers travel across the Las Vegas Valley, working together with several homeless services providers, offering showers five days a week. On its one year anniversary in July, the mobile hygiene unit had provided more than 7,500 showers to the homeless community.
Now Sands Cares and Clean the World can announce that Fresh Start Mobile Showers provided its 10,000th shower!
