Fox Studios Hosts Female Students from Pakistan as Part of State Department Women's Empowerment Exchange
Fox opened its doors to seven of the university's top female graduate students on July 13 as part of an exchange organized by Lee and the Women's Empowerment programs at the U.S. Department of State. The visit, which included a full tour of the studio lot and its operations, gave the students an up close and personal look at the American entertainment industry.

'He Named Me Malala' Earns Five Emmy Nominations, 21CF Backs Girls Education Through Malala Fund
Of 21st Century Fox's combined 103 nominations for the 68th Emmy Awards, five belong to He Named Me Malala, the powerful documentary from Fox Searchlight and National Geographic chronicling the life of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai. In February, the National Geographic Channel aired the global broadcast premiere of the film commercial-free and ran a social media campaign with 21CF to raise funds for Malala's work to ensure young women and girls have access to quality secondary education. 21CF and its employees donated more than $125,000 to Malala Fund to provide education for Syrian refugee girls living in Jordan and Lebanon.

Middle and High School Students Embark on Global Journeys Through National Geographic Student Expeditions Program
National Geographic's Student Expeditions program offers educational travel experiences for students all over the world, providing unique learning opportunities at more than 40 locations for budding photographers, writers and scientists. National Geographic also provides scholarship assistance for students in need, awarding nearly two dozen free expeditions this summer to students completing 6th through 12th grades. 21st Century Fox expanded its partnership with the National Geographic Society last fall, with 27% of all current proceeds going toward the society's grant-making pursuits.

National Geographic Brings President Obama to Yosemite to Record The White House's First Ever VR Experience
National Geographic partnered with Facebook and Félix & Paul Studios to create The White House's first ever 360-degree virtual reality video experience during President Barack Obama's June 18 visit to Yosemite National Park. Audiences will have the chance to view the VR video later this summer, along with a full interview between the President and Richard Bacon, host of Explorer on 21st Century Fox's National Geographic Channel. The interview will be broadcast as part of National Geographic's Power of Parks initiative, a year-long programming push to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the National Parks Service.

Meet the World's Leading Scientists and Adventurers During National Geographic's "Explorers Week"
The National Geographic Society will bring together its most innovative and interesting explorers from around the world during its "Explorers Week" celebration from June 13 to 17. Through livestreams, video chats and more, the campaign will give global viewers the chance to interact with Society's leading researchers, conservationists and educators. Explorers Week coincides with the Society's annual Explorers Symposium, where top scientists deliver captivating stories of how exploration, storytelling and scientific discovery are making a difference across the globe. 21st Century Fox expanded its partnership with National Geographic in 2015, enhancing the organization's endowment and ensuring 27% of all future proceeds go toward the Society's scientific pursuits.

The National Geographic Society has announced this year's class of Emerging Explorers, a group of scientists, conservationists and educators still early in their careers whose work is already pushing the boundaries of their chosen fields.

21CF Supports Education for Syrian Refugee Children with $125,000 Donation to Malala Fund
21st Century Fox has announced a contribution of more than $125,000 to Malala Fund, an organization advocating for secondary girls' education around the world. The gift consists of funds raised through a company-wide employee matching program, as well as a social media campaign led by 21CF and the National Geographic Channel, and will help provide education for Syrian refugee children. The donation is the culmination of the company's year-long global campaign to support "He Named Me Malala," Fox Searchlight and National Geographic Channel's documentary about 18-year-old activist Malala Yousafzai, and raise awareness of the more than 60 million young women who are out of school around the globe.

Xploration Station, the country’s only E/I broadcast destination dedicated exclusively to STEM programming for teens and their families, announced the return of its #StudentAstronaut contest today. This will be the second iteration of the nationwide competition tied to the popular series Xploration Outer Space.

"Xploration Station," Fox's Two-Hour Block of STEM Programming for Kids, Earns Two Emmy Nominations
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the nominees for the 43rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, and "Xploration Earth 2050" received two nominations, one for Outstanding Special Class Series and another for Outstanding Writing Special Class. The series, hosted by renowned artist and futurist Chuck Pell, is one of four shows comprising "Xploration Station," a two-hour blog of STEM-related programming airing on Saturday mornings on Fox TV stations.

FOX Sports University Gives College Students Immersive Experience in Sports Marketing
In spring 2015, FOX Sports partnered with Seton Hall University for the FOX Sports University program, a unique initiative that gives college students the chance to gain hands-on experience in the sports industry. The program pairs teams of students with FOX Sports executives to work on a real-world challenge facing the business. The initiative is part of 21st Century Fox's broad commitment to support new education pathways and create avenues into the industry.
