NEW YORK, November 1, 2022 /3BL Media/ – Fast Company’s annual ‘Brands That Matter’ list celebrates “a company’s connection with its audience through cultural relevance, social impact, and clear, authentic communication.” Among the 144 companies selected for this year’s list are four Carol Cone ON PURPOSE (CCOP) clients: Aflac, Quest Diagnostics, Salesforce.org, and WSP.

“We have long known that these four brands do ‘matter,’ as we have seen firsthand how their business models, employees, leadership teams, and ethos drive toward positive societal impact,” said Carol Cone, CEO of Carol Cone ON PURPOSE. “At CCOP, we are privileged to work with companies that truly care about making an impact and changing the world for the better – and this is a wonderful recognition of those commitments.”

Aflac is among CCOP’s longest-term clients. The partnership began in 2016 with the creation of My Special Aflac Duck, a social robot Cone conceptualized for Aflac to help pediatric cancer patients cope with an average 1,000 days of treatments. The Consumer Electronics Show awarded it the title of Technology for a Better World from hundreds of competitive inventions.

Most recently, the CCOP team supported Aflac’s Close the Gap initiative and accompanying short film, The Park Bench. Together, the film and initiative aim to educate consumers about medical debt in conjunction with the expansion of Aflac’s CareGrants program to help individuals and families “close the gap” on unexpected medical bills.

Quest Diagnostics was recognized for connecting its brand to the issue of health equity. At the beginning of the pandemic, CCOP partnered with Quest to help with positioning and communications for the company’s $100 million Quest for Health Equity initiative. Q4HE convened medical experts, religious leaders, and community organizations to increase COVID-19 education and expand access to testing and vaccinations in some of the U.S. cities hardest-hit by the pandemic.

Salesforce.org, the cause-focused arm of SaaS giant Salesforce, has spearheaded the digital transformation of the nonprofit and education sectors. Traditionally operating on tighter budgets and far less resources than corporate counterparts, NGOs and education systems have no less need for cutting-edge technology and innovation. Salesforce.org not only provides its 40,000+ NGO and education clients with discounted software and tools, but leads research and innovation in the sphere to ensure the organizations on the front lines of social issues are well-equipped to make–and scale– impact.

WSP is one of the world’s leading environmental services and engineering consultancies, and is transforming the built world through infrastructure projects in more than 500 cities globally. Unlike many other engineering consultancies, climate and sustainability is at the heart of WSP’s work, and the company generates more than half its revenues from companies that are operating in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Notable recent projects include building a hurricane-resistant power plant in Liberia, helping Amsterdam unlock the energy potential of its canals to move away from fossil fuels, and the restoration of 10,000 acres of habitat in 2021 alone.
