Taco Bell Foundation Awards $3 Million in Live Más Scholarships

This year, the Taco Bell Foundation awarded $3 million in Live Más Scholarships to 300 employees and youth across the country. Designed to help students pursue their unique passions that may not necessarily fit into the traditional “academic” or “athletic” categories, this year’s scholarship application drew nearly 8,000 submissions.

Sands Celebrates Success With the Local Community

To mark the milestone of Sands Cotai Central’s opening in 2012, Sands China Ltd. created an anniversary celebration that not only delighted guests and patrons, it extended special benefits and engaged a number of local community organizations. A highlight of the anniversary celebration was a carnival at the property’s Paradise Gardens, in which 50 Sands China Care Ambassadors hosted 50 members of the Macao Special Olympics (MSO) to participate in activities such as balloon twisting, caricature sketching, magic shows, face painting, and more.

Volunteer Spotlight: Taryn Sauthoff Uses Tech Talent for Good

Taryn Sauthoff, a Viacom employee in New York, is the embodiment of Talent for Good at work. She applied her web development skills to help YoungMoms, a non-profit organization that supports pregnant and parenting young women in rural Pennsylvania, build a new website. Sauthoff completed the volunteer project in a few months and continues to collaborate with the organization.

The JetBlue Foundation Invests in Puerto Rico’s Future by Pledging Grants for Organizations That Power STEM Initiatives

The JetBlue Foundation has pledged $100,000 worth of grants to STEM education programs in Puerto Rico. JetBlue has offered service to Puerto Rico since 2002 and last year initiated 100x35JetBlue, a hurricane recovery and relief initiative. The airline currently serves three destinations in Puerto Rico including its San Juan focus city where JetBlue is the largest carrier, as well as Aguadilla and Ponce.

Grants from the JetBlue Foundation will help further the airline’s efforts to invest in the island’s future and place aviation fields top-of-mind as career choices for students. The JetBlue Foundation will award $100,000 to qualified schools and organizations to fuel learning in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Helping Students Break Into the Hospitality Industry

This past year, The Venetian, The Palazzo, and Sands Expo in Las Vegas hosted 50 students from Valley High School’s Job for Americas Graduates (JAG) Program. The day of tours and workshops were held to expose the students to the opportunities in the hospitality industry. JAG is a highly effective, data-driven model that raises graduation rates and prepares participants by honing their work readiness skills.
