The Gildan Glow Run has become one of the most popular volunteer activities¸ since the first marathon in 2013 held in Honduras. We then extended the race to our facilities in Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Through these events, we aim to encourage our employees and their families to engage in physical activity while contributing to the needs of their communities.

Announcing Our 2017 Inventor’s Challenge Winners

For the past several months, AT&T has been collaborating with Imagination Foundation on our second-annual Inventor’s Challenge – bringing together young people from around the world to create innovative, imaginative and often totally viable solutions that solve problems in their schools and communities. This year, we saw entries from nearly 10,000 kids and teens from pre-k to high school, with ideas that ranged from a 3D-printed soap dispenser to spring-loaded “sky shoes” to help anyone reach great heights.

Shire Employees Volunteered Over 25,000 Hours in 2016

On October 7, Shire hosted its second annual Global Day of Service. More than one-third of our newly expanded workforce participated in volunteer projects worldwide. Employee volunteers dedicated over 25,000 hours of their time in more than 150 locations.

Historic Hahne’s Department Store Building Reopens in Downtown Newark, N.J.

Prudential Financial, Inc., L+M Development Partners, and The Goldman Sachs Group, in partnership with Citi Community Capital, joined Newark Mayor Ras Baraka to celebrate the grand opening of the historic Hahne & Company building in downtown Newark. The restored building features an arts and cultural center operated by Rutgers University-Newark and around 75,000 square feet of new retail space on Broad Street, including Newark’s first Whole Foods. The project was accomplished with support from local co-developers Hanini Group and Crawford Street Partners.

Nat Geo Explorers Encourage Girls to Pursue STEM Careers at Microsoft Events

On March 18, girls across the United States gathered in Microsoft Stores to hear from National Geographic Explorers about the importance of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. The events were in partnership with Microsoft’s “Make What’s Next Campaign,” which aims to inspire the next generation of inventors, scientists, mathematicians and engineers. Given that only 6.7 percent of women graduate with STEM degrees, the campaign encourages girls to pursue these subjects from a young age, effectively doubling the potential to solve the worlds’ problems.
