Channel 2 WSB-TV, in partnership with The Trust for Public Land, today launched Atlanta’s 2016 Cox Conserves Heroes to honor local environmental volunteers. Nominations are being accepted now through August 26 at wsbtv.com/coxconservesheroes for volunteers who are creating, preserving or enhancing outdoor spaces. Nominee activities must be performed on a volunteer basis and may not be part of one’s paid job.

LGBT Americans Optimistic About Planning for Future, Says Wells Fargo Survey

One year after the federal ruling in favor of marriage equality, same-sex couples report experiencing a positive shift in their overall quality of life. According to a new survey from Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Americans, 75% feel marriage makes them more confident in planning for their future. More than half surveyed (67%) say marriage made their relationship better, and 62% believe it will improve their financial future.

Two Philippine Companies Receive First Lead Safe Paint® Certifications

Two companies, Pacific Paint (Boysen) Philippines, Inc. and Davies Paints Philippines, Inc., are the first in the world to earn the Lead Safe Paint® mark under a newly-established certification program. The certification program, established by the international non-profit IPEN, was created to let customers know that the paints they are purchasing meet the Philippines mandatory regulatory standard[1] and the world’s strictest regulatory standard for lead content in paint.

Green-e Energy Certifies Southern California Edison’s New Clean Energy Options

Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) announced on July 12, 2016 that two Southern California Edison (SCE) clean energy programs have received Green-e Energy certification—”Green Rate,” a voluntary program offering a 50% and 100% renewable energy option to SCE residential and commercial customers in California, and “Community Renewables,” a program that allows customers to contract directly with developers of clean energy facilities and receive bill credit through the utility. Clean energy generation for both programs will be located in California, and will not count towards the State’s 50% by 2030 renewable portfolio standard goal. Energy generated will be in addition to this goal.
