Barclays Named in Top 100 Companies for Working Mums
Barclays has reaffirmed its status as a family-friendly business after being named in the ‘100 Best Companies’ list published by Working Mother magazine.
In its annual review of ‘exemplary employers’ in the US, the publication rated companies according to practices such as flexible working, mentoring, affordable childcare and paid leave. Barclays was listed in the top 100 for the third year in a row.
This year, the judges singled out the bank’s dynamic working programme, which they said caters to the “diverse needs” of the workforce through remote working, job-shares and flexible hours, enabling colleagues “to make room for what matters most in their lives”.
Dynamic working was launched by Barclays as a UK campaign in 2014, but has since gone global.
Sarah-Jane Walker, Director of Customer Experience at Barclays, who is herself a working mother, said: “It’s very important to balance seeing my little girl with my work. I always make sure I spend set times with my daughter and log on to my emails at other times, for example. Plus, it’s great to connect with other mothers in senior roles within Barclays.”
