LEED(R)-EB SILVER is Earned for the American Landmark Properties – 1100 Superior Building
(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) Cleveland, OH, October 29, 2010 – The 1100 Superior Building, a twenty-two story office building located in Cleveland, Ohio and managed by American Landmark Properties, has been awarded LEED-EB: O&M (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance) Silver Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). This certification recognizes that 1100 Superior has implemented continuous sustainability improvement measures guided by LEED-EB. Leonardo Academy was the LEED consultant for this project supporting the successful achievement of Silver Certification.
Steve Rokowsky, the Property Manager from American Landmark Properties, said, “The process that has brought 1100 Superior to achieving LEED Silver has helped to improve the quality of operations and management at 1100 Superior, especially in energy efficiency.”
1100 Superior is the first LEED-EB: O&M v2009 Silver Certified project located within Cleveland.
1100 Superior implemented many green actions to achieve Silver Certification, which include:
-
Through LEED-EB documentation, 45% of the building occupants take alternative transportation to work. This significantly reduces emissions.
-
Water fixture upgrades provide water cost savings of $3,323 through water efficiency improvements and save over a million gallons of water per year.
-
A new white or “cool” roof with solar reflectance index (SRI) applied to decrease the heat island index.
-
Recycled existing roof material as well as incorporated recycled material into the new roof. This resulted in energy cost savings.
-
Re-calibrated water meters to ensure consistent tracking.
-
Implemented a Solid Waste Policy mandating at least 50% of ongoing consumables be diverted from the waste stream through reuse, recycling, or composting.
-
Achieved an Energy Star rating of 89, making them eligible for the Energy Star Label.
-
Documented an emissions reduction of 6,722 metric tons of CO2 equivalent when compared to the national average through Leonardo Academy’s Cleaner & Greener Program.
-
An increased occupant awareness of building sustainability.
