Injured Bald Eagle Takes Flight Again in Manitoba

Steve Loney, a TransCanada employee, works with Manitoba's Wildlife Haven and the Waywayseecappo First Nation to rehabilitate and release an injured bald eagle. TransCanada has been proud to support Wildlife Haven for more than 20 years, after a land agent spotted an owl on the shoulder of a volunteer in the 1990s and became engaged with the organization.

Jim Pisani: National Service Is a National Treasure

Congress is back from its August recess and will debate budget appropriations for fiscal year 2018 in the coming months. Thankfully, both the Senate and House Appropriations committees have approved maintaining funding for the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency that runs AmeriCorps and Senior Corps, and funds other national service programs. At Timberland, we believe strongly in the power of service, and we applaud this bipartisan support for national service.

Finalists Named for Atlanta’s 2017 Cox Conserves Heroes Program, Public Asked to Vote

Channel 2 WSB-TV and The Trust for Public Land are recognizing volunteers who are creating, preserving or enhancing shared outdoor spaces. Finalists for Atlanta’s 2017 Cox Conserves Heroes program were announced today, and the public is being asked to vote for the winner now through Oct. 30. To vote, visit wsbtv.com/coxconservesheroes. A total of $20,000 will be donated to local environmental nonprofits on behalf of the three finalists.

LIXIL’s SATO to Bring Safer Sanitation to 15 Million More People with Support of New Funding

LIXIL Corporation – a global leader in the housing and buildings industry – today announced that its breakthrough SATO business will be funded under the “Urban Sanitation Challenge,” a newly launched program of the Water Innovation Engine. LIXIL’s SATO is one of the first five projects ever to be funded through the Urban Sanitation Challenge. The new program, led by Grand Challenges Canada, was launched on September 21 at the UN General Assembly meetings in New York City.
