General Mills Brings Pollinator Conservation, Education to Brazil

General Mills in Brazil, through its social program, Healthy Children, Healthy Future, in partnership with Instituto Melhores Dias and the NGO SOS Abelhas Sem Ferrão (SOS stingless bees) established educational beehives for schoolchildren in two of our hometown communities (Cambará and Ribeirão Claro) to rescue and provide shelter for four native stingless bee species in Brazil (Jataí, Mandaçaia, Mirim Droryana and Manduri) - the main pollinators of Brazilian wildlife.

In its New Energy Outlook 2019 (NEO), BNEF sees these technologies ensuring that – at least until 2030 – the power sector contributes its share toward keeping global temperatures from rising more than 2 degrees Celsius.

Nature-Inspired Water Leak Detection System Wins the 2019 $100,000 Ray of Hope Prize

Twenty percent of the world's clean pumped water is lost due to leaking pipes, and current technology cannot detect leaks accurately enough or early enough to prevent either water loss or major infrastructure damage. Startup company Watchtower Robotics is tackling this problem creatively and effectively, and today was awarded the 2019 $100,000 Ray of Hope Prize® for its efforts during the GreenBiz Circularity Conference. The prize is sponsored by the Ray C. Anderson Foundation and awarded annually to the top team in the Biomimicry Launchpad, an accelerator focused on nature-inspired solutions to global challenges.
