Domtar Sustainability: Pulling Our Weight

Unlike their counterparts in Pulp and Paper, our logistics colleagues in Personal Care don’t have a weight problem. Quite the opposite, they struggle to put it on.

Optimizing transportation efficiency is the objective for both of our divisions. They both strive to get the most product in a trailer. One is weight constrained. The other has a space issue.

The reason for the difference is that personal care products are lightweight. It is easy to fill a trailer and be well within the regulated weight limit. The challenge for our logistics colleagues in Personal Care is how to max out the allowable weight limit.

“The world is turned upside down,” says Michael Bloomberg, the billionaire businessman, UN Special Envoy for Cities and Climate Change, three-term former New York City mayor, public health and immigrant champion, lover of cities and enemy of gun violence, climate quant, and sugar daddy many times over to his philanthropic causes.… It’s hard to succinctly describe what Bloomberg does. I counted, with absolutely no confidence that I was even skimming the surface, more than 20 organizations and initiatives he is currently engaged with as founder, chair, or major funder.

First Look at the New Bloomberg HQ: Why Norman Foster's Design Is a Triumph

Not many will mourn the passing of Bucklersbury House and Temple Court. Designed in 1953 for a site next to the Mansion House and completed five years later, they set the architectural direction for the post-war City of London. At 14 and 15 storeys high, they were the first office buildings to break the 100ft height limit, entirely ignore the street pattern and prioritise parking at the expense of pedestrians.
