Electronic Payments Allow Charities to Focus on the Things That Matter

When was the last time you sent someone a letter in the mail? Has it been a while? By contrast, when did you send your last email just by pushing a button? Technology and its ability to automate routine tasks is not only changing our lives, but also transforming the way we support meaningful causes. Writing a check is like writing a letter when there’s email. It’s wildly less efficient than using electronic payments. The global movement toward electronic payments is far more than just a “flavor of the day.” According to the latest survey done by the AFP (Association of Finance Professionals), 80% of North American companies are transitioning their B2B payments from paper checks to electronic payments, and several large countries have already ceased using checks completely.

Guest Blog: The Journey of Adoption, from a Mother's Heart

In the life that I have created, and the circles in which I travel, the word “Mother” is almost never used alone. It is simply not complex enough to explain the relationship I have to the children that fill my car, my house and my life. Colors in our Lives: Changing Attitudes Toward People with Disabilities

In her first blog post, Bindu Sengar, administrative coordinator for Keystone Institute India, addresses the attitudes of society toward people with disabilities. She writes, "It was an emotional moment for me when I met with such beautiful people, families, teachers, and professionals, and realized the poor treatment they have received at the hands of our society. They helped me to feel the pain they were going through – a pain brought on not by disability, but instead by the feeling of shame society lays onto people, and by the limited sorts of help families can find in their communities."
